Owl Prowl in the Evening

The Nature & Raptor Center of Pueblo will present a Fall for Owls Event on Saturday, October 10 at Lake Pueblo State Park at 6 pm. This event will feature a release of two great horned owls, owl crafts, live owls to meet, a Colorado Owls program, and an owl prowl. There is no fee for the activities, however donations are appreciated. The Colorado Owl program, owl crafts, and the owl meet ‘n’ greet activities are at the state park Visitor Center where no parks pass is required. The release of the great horned owls, as well as the Owl Prowl will be inside the state park and a valid park pass is required on all vehicles that enter the park. Release of two great horned owls at the Swim Beach parking area. These two owlets are from the nest on Nichols Road on the north side of the state park.
Meet and Greet live owls in the auditorium of the VisitorCenter. Enjoy owl crafts in the education room of the Visitor Center.

Homeschoolers in the Park


Homeschoolers in the Park is a experiential science program, designed for home school students, grades 2nd through 4th grade.  Your student will participate in a full day of educational activities, taking place in the Mountain Park, the ideal outdoor classroom



  • $30.00 – Member Price- One Child
  • $35.00 – Non-Member Price – One Child

Includes round trip transportation from Pueblo. Meet at the Nature and Raptor Center off of Pueblo Boulevard at 8:30 am, arrives back at the Nature and Raptor Center at 3:00 pm

Pond Ecology

Have your student join us for some fun around our Pond as they learn about the insects and the newly released Southern Red Bellied Dace (fish) living there! Students will get the opportunity practice being Limnologist as they catch and learn about a  variety of insects and conduct water quality tests.

Art through the Ecosystems

The second half of the day will be a guided hike through the three ecosystems at the park.While the student learn about the various aspects that make up our ecosystems, they will have a chance to collect items that will then be used to create three multimedia art pieces (leaf rubbing and leaf pressing).


Adobe + Agave Hands-On Event

Join El Pueblo History Museum for a great evening of tequila tasting, margaritas, and adobe fun. Sip award-winning tequila with local tequila sommelier Anthony Hill. Listen to music by Kimberly Sewell. Quench your thirst at our margarita and paloma bar. Get your hands dirty (or not!) learning the basics of ancestral adobe. Support the work and operations of El Pueblo History Museum by becoming a member of the museum. The event is free for members of El Pueblo History Museum. Memberships can be pre-purchased at the museum or purchased at the event.
