“The Tempest” Comes to Pueblo


A spell-casting duke, a ship-wrecked prince, and a maiden.

This magical comedy will be performed by Damon Runyon Theater. Performances will be at 7:30 pm (May 29th & 30th) and at 2 pm (May 31st)


Play synopsis

One of literature’s finest comedies and Shakespeare’s final work, The Tempest is a tale of the maiden Miranda and her magician father Prospero who live alone on an enchanted island with their servants and Ariel, an invisible sprite and Caliban, a witch’s monstrous son.  Into their isolated lives comes a shipwrecked party including the enemies who usurped Prospero’s dukedom and set he and his daughter adrift on the ocean.  There is also a handsome prince, the first young man Miranda has ever seen.

A Family-Friendly Play Comes to Pueblo

The family-friendly play, “Laughter on the 23rd Floor”, focuses on the star of a weekly comedy-variety show and his staff. His alter-ego maintains a running commentary on all the writing, fighting, and stunts that occur in the writers’ room. Max has an ongoing battle with NBC executives, who fear his humor is too sophisticated for America.

HINT: the characters in the play based on real writers, including Mel Brooks, Tony Webster, an Sid Ceasar.

The play will be performed March 13th &14th at 7:30 pm, and also March 15th at 2 pm.
