Colorado Owl Festival 2015
Join the NRCP, Pueblo public libraries, Pueblo Zoo, Arkansas Valley Audubon Society, Lake Pueblo State Park, and Mountain Park Environmental Center for the weekend. Highlights include live demonstrations, crafts, an owl hooting competition, owl pellet dissection, and presentations by owl experts.
Dates: Friday, March 27th & Saturday, March 28th
Cost: $3 per person for the entire festival.* (Kids under 10 years old are FREE)
*Events at the Pueblo Library re FREE. Workshops may have additional fees.

All morning activities are at the Nature Center – 5200 Nature Center Rd.

10:30 – 10:45 am Coloring Contest Awards at NRCP Pavilion
10:00 – 11:30 am Owl Crafts at the NRCP Yurt
10:00am–12:00pm Owl Storytelling at Story Tent

11:00am–12:00pm Owl Pellet Dissection at NRCP Pavilion
12:00 – 12:30 pm Owl Identification & Calls at the NRCP Yurt
12:30 pm Owl Hooting Competition (for kids) at the NRCP Yurt
1:00 – 3:00 pm Hooties on the River (craft workshop)
You’ll love these crafty wooden owls that you paint with your own designs. Join us for this creative owl painting workshop and take home your very own hoot owl. $25 (a portion of this fee is being donated to the Raptor Center) Call (719) 549-2458 to register.
3:00 – 5:00 pm Woolly Owls (needle-felting workshop)
Using wool roving, cookie cutters, a felting needle, and your imagination, you will create colorful, kooky, crazy owls. These are sure to amaze your friends and family. $25 (a portion of this fee is being donated to the Raptor Center) Call (719) 549-2458 to register.
2:00 – 4:30 pm Owl Habitat Hike at Pueblo Mountain Park
Join the Mountain Park Environmental Center (MPEC) staff for a trek through some wonderful owl habitat in Beulah. MPEC will provide transportation from the Nature & Raptor Center in Pueblo for the first 20 hikers to register. Others may follow in their own vehicles.
