Coloring Contest Now Open for Kids + Adults

 

Prizes!!!    Prizes!!    Prizes!!

During the month of March,
the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo will be holding
an owl coloring contest for children and adults.

 

 

 

Kid Prizes (for each age category)

First Place: an Owl Presentation for the student’s classroom.
Runners-Up: a Raptor Adoption for his/her classroom.
All First Place winners and Runners-Up receive Free Admission to the Colorado Owl Festival.

Adult Prizes

First Place: a Raptor Release
Runner-Up: an NRCP individual membership

Colored pages must be received at the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo by 4pm March 24th.
Limit one entry per person. All entries become the property of the Nature and Raptor Center

Who’s at Rawlings Library

Attention lovers of movies and Dr. Seuss.

Kids can learn from an elephant that “A person’s a person, no matter how small”.

The movie version of Horton Hears a Who! will be shown at Rawlings Library on Saturday, March 7th. The movie will begin at 2pm and end at 4pm.

A major theme of this movie centers around learning about universal values existing in vastly different places and people, as shown by the quote “A person’s a person, no matter how small”. This idea is found on many levels: Horton hearing a world in a speck, the Mayor’s relationship with his son, and Jane Kangaroo learning the truth about Horton’s beliefs.

Be sure to talk about these ideas with your child or children!

Free Zumba Lessons

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines combine fast and slow rhythms and resistance training.

As with any exercise, if a certain movement or position hurts, try to modify the workout to avoid the aggravating activities. Active since 1912, the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce is private, nonprofit, membership-driven organization. Members include of individuals, businesses, educational institutions, and organizations. The organization represents their members on local, state, and federal levels. It is run by volunteers.

The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce also offers members with networking, marketing, and learning opportunities.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Home Depot locations will offer FREE hands-on craft workshops where kids (ages 5-12) can build….

Not only do kids keep their craft, they receive a certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin.

The craft workshops begin Saturday, February 7th  at 9am-12am. Home Depot asks that you do not arrive before 9:00 a.m. Craft workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis.
