Owl Prowl in the Evening

The Nature & Raptor Center of Pueblo will present a Fall for Owls Event on Saturday, October 10 at Lake Pueblo State Park at 6 pm. This event will feature a release of two great horned owls, owl crafts, live owls to meet, a Colorado Owls program, and an owl prowl. There is no fee for the activities, however donations are appreciated. The Colorado Owl program, owl crafts, and the owl meet ‘n’ greet activities are at the state park Visitor Center where no parks pass is required. The release of the great horned owls, as well as the Owl Prowl will be inside the state park and a valid park pass is required on all vehicles that enter the park. Release of two great horned owls at the Swim Beach parking area. These two owlets are from the nest on Nichols Road on the north side of the state park.
6:30PM-7:00PM
Meet and Greet live owls in the auditorium of the VisitorCenter. Enjoy owl crafts in the education room of the Visitor Center.
7:00 PM-7:45PM
Colorado Owls Program, presented by Diana Miller,Raptor Center Director in the auditorium of the Visitor Center.
7:45PM-8:30PM
Meet and Greet live owls in the auditorium of the VisitorCenter. Enjoy owl crafts in the education room of the Visitor Center.

Owl Prowl through Rock Canyon- Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot where we will drive to an area in Rock Canyon to call owls.

9:30-10:30 am Hands-on environmental experiences for kids ages 4-6 at the Visitor Center.
5-7 pm Fresh fish printing at the North Shore Marina parking lot fish cleaning station.
5-7 pm Teen time at the North Shore parking lot near the restroom
8-9:30 pm Campfire program at the Northern Plains Amphitheater as well as stargazing with Androids and Iphones

Every Saturday
8 am A stroll through the park beginning at the Visitor Center, a tour of the fish hatchery and cool cottonwoods in Rock Canyon with the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society.
4-5 pm Teen time at the Visitor terrace
5-7 pm Fresh fish printing near the South Shore boat ramp.
8-9:30 pm Campfire program on the Visitor Center Lawn

Every Sunday
8 am A stroll through the park beginning at the Visitor Center, a tour of the fish hatchery and cool cottonwoods in Rock Canyon with the Arkansas Valley Audubon Society.
2 pm Rock Canyon Swim Beach: A ranger presentation about bears, hiking, biking or water animals


 

Summer is here and that means SWIMMING!

Rock Canyon Beach has a sandy beach, grassy areas, picnic tables with grills, volleyball courts, restrooms/showers and vending machines.  You can bring the whole family out for the day of swimming and picnicking fun.

The beach is open Thursday through Monday, 11 am to 6 pm.  Entrance is free to the beach, but a park pass is required on every vehicle that enters the park.

New this year:  Paddleboards and kayaks are permitted on the backside of the swimming area.  Carry in your own, or rent one from the Laketime Rentals (set up on the beach).

Please remember:  Leave your furry friend at home when planning a trip to the beach.  Dogs are not allowed in the beach compound.  For your bare feet’s safety:  glass is also not permitted in the beach

Admission to the swimbeach is free, but a valid parks pass is required on every vehicle entering the park.

Meet Eagles at Pueblo’s Eagle Day Festival

2015 Pueblo Eagle Days Three days, three locations, 3x the fun! The 17th Annual Eagle Day Festival will be held the first weekend in February. Whether you are a Pueblo eagle novice or Pueblo eagle fanatic, this event has events for groups and individuals of all ages. Adults, young adults, children, and teens will arrive from the Colorado area to take part in eagle-centered crafts, presentations, and displays. Check the weather as well as your calendars. These events take place both indoors and outdoors! The 17th Annual Eagle Day Festival appears at a different place each day and each day has a different focus. Be sure to take plenty of pictures and share them on Facebook with the All Things Pueblo community!


SCHEDULE OF EVENTS All Things Pueblo Eaagle Day Festival FRIDAY: The kickoff party explodes at 5PM inside The Old Towne Carriage House with a display of photos. Vote for your favorite and don’t forget to encourage your kids vote too! Want to see your own photograph on display or that of someone you know?  To participate in the photo contest, see the rules HERE! Contest winners will be announced at 7pm. Also at 7pm,  keynote speaker (Stephanie Arne) fro Oramha’s Wild Kingdom will tell tales about her own wildlife adventures. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.

All Things Pueblo   SUNDAY: Open house at the Nature and Raptor Center of Pueblo. From 11am – 2pm visit resident birds (yes there are bald eagles). Events includes the 10am Driving Eagle Tour. Space for the Pueblo eagle tour is limited so make sure to RSVP by calling the Center at 719-549-2414.
