Zuke’s Dog Hike

zukes dog hike logo

This Saturday’s hike is sure to be fun for those who run on two feet and on four. Have fun in the great outdoors! Strengthen your bond with your dog by spending time together. Give you and your dog a chance to stretch those legs after a busy week. Help your dog socialize with other dogs. Provide your dog and yourself with a smorgasbord of scents and sights through this group hike.

The group will gather this Saturday, March 7th, in the parking lot of the Mountain Park Environmental Center and will set out at 1 pm. In the advent of snow, snowshoes will be available! Be sure to dress warmly and in layers. And don’t forget to bring water (and maybe a snack).

The guide for this hike will be Ranger Sandy.  Sandy Christensen is a long-time teacher of physical education and health for diverse age groups. She has traveled the world and is now a part of the Earth Studies team at the Mountain Park Environmental Center.

Pueblo Bluegrass at the Fair – May 29-31, 2015

May 29-31

This event brings together a mix of the best traditional and progressive Bluegrass bands around!

Located at the Colorado State Fairgrounds, this venue gives attendees the convenient option of setting up camp.

An All-American melting pot of music, Bluegrass music began in the Appalachian mountains in the 1700’s. With many fast passages, it made for great dancing music!

There are three main types of bluegrass music — all three will be played at the festival! Progressive bluegrass often plays on electric instruments (like the electic fiddle and electric cello) and “borrows” songs from other music genres. Traditional bluegrass plays on “natural” (nonelectric) instruments. Neo-traditional bluegrass blends the first two types with a healthy dose of jazz thrown in for good measure.
