Ice Cream Sunday at Pueblo Zoo

Put away those school supplies!  On Sunday, August 16, free samples of Coldstone Creamery ice cream and Starbucks chilled drinks will be served starting at noon while supplies last. The dog days of Summer are also a great time to see their painted dogs. So, cool off in the shade, chill out with the dogs and enjoy a tasty ice cream treat!

3 Day Creative Festival at the Zoo

July 30-31, 9:30 am- 1 pm
& Aug. 1, 9:30 am-4:30 pm

Celebrate the arrival of the African painted dogs through the expression of art. Live artist demos and hands on art activities for kids of all ages!

Kids of all ages can participate in crafts, paint by number, chalk drawings, origami, clay pots, original paintings and more!
Interact with local artists as they create art in front of your eyes using a variety of mediums – paint, pottery, charcoal

Thursday, July 30 at 10:00am: Storytime with the Pueblo City-County Library (at the Den)

Zoo Sleuths

June 8-12, 9am-3pm, grades 1-2  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

Are you a super sleuth? Come test your skills and become a zoo detective and solve animal mysteries.

 Zoo ALIVE

June 15-19, 9am-3pm,  grades 7-10  •  $135 members / $150 non-members

Be a zoo insider! Share your passion for the zoo with others and have a great time doing it. Along the way, you will develop leadership and public speaking skills to become a teen zoo volunteer. Must be willing to handle education animal ambassadors, make informal presentations to zoo guests on grounds about animals and conservation efforts. Participants are expected to volunteer regularly upon completion of camp.

 Artsy Armadillos, musical monkeys, painting pandas! Let loose your creative side and explore how animals impact the arts through dance, song, paintings, and more!

MYTHS & LEGENDSAnimal Myth Busters

June 22-26, 9am-3pm, grades 3-4  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

Do camels really store water in their humps? Are bats blind? Do porcupines throw their quills? Learn about these and other common misconceptions in the animal kingdom.

Wild About Water

June 22-26, 9am-3pm, grades 1-2  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

 We’re bringing the ocean to Colorado! Learn about some of the animals that live in the sea and what you can do to help them while playing water games along the way.

Zooniversity

 Did you know animals have kindergarten skills too? Come learn from each other. We’ll practice our best classroom behaviors while learning how animals work together in the wild.

Gross Out!

July 13-17, 9am-3pm, grades 1-2  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

 Who’s not afraid to get up close and gross? Join us as we look at all kinds of strange critters and their adaptations for survival.

Zooper Heroes

July 20-24, 9am-3pm, grades 3-4  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

 Identify the villains of the wild and how to defeat them. Also learn about real zooper heroes in the wild and their extraordinaory powers. By the end of the week, you’ll be a zooper hero too!

 

World Travelers

July 27-31, 9am-3pm, grades 5-6  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

 Africa, Asia, South America – the zoo has it all! Each day you will survey a different area of the zoo and learn about animals and the countries they come from. Passports not required!

 

Colorful Colorado Creatures

August 3-7, 9am-3pm, grades 3-4  •  $125 members / $135 non-members

 How much do you know about animals found right here at home? Become more familiar with our animal residents and their habitats. Discover the rich biodiversity of our home state and how Coloradoans have celebrated their animal neighbors throughout history.

Moms get in FREE

Not just Sunday, but Saturday too! On May 9th & May 10th, moms, grandmoms, and great-grandmoms receive FREE admission. Their child or grandchild is your ticket in.

 Open all year, 7 days a week.  Perfect year-round as a destination or a vacation stopover for kids from 0-99+. Enjoy a leisurely, flat, family-friendly stroll through exotic and colorful habitats, gardens and exhibits.  Home to more than 400 animals and 120 species including guest favorites –lions, playful otters and penguins.

Photographer Level: Beginner and Intermediate (ages 16+)

Required Equipment:

A DSLR camera or a point and shoot/mirrorless camera that has the ability to go into aperture priority modes and manual modes
A lens that can zoom to at least 200mm and a tripod are highly recommended

Fee: $100 (zoo members), $115 (non-members)
